I just wanted to let you know that I have decided on Fordham University over USC for fall transfer! I am really really excited! It seems to fit me perfectly. Dr. Pam Schachter is a life saver! When all three of my children needed to transfer colleges at the same time, she made an overwhelming proposition seem easy. She helped them create a precise plan for their goals with regard to transferring to four-year colleges. My daughters attended a local community college and Pam guided them with course selection and made sure they took the correct number of courses to transfer. When my son decided to transfer from the University of Arizona back to California, she organized his classes to assure a smooth transition back to a UC or CSU. She is so patient with the kids and her calm manner made them feel so comfortable. I have recommended her to many friends and they loved her as much as we all do!

Throughout my two years at Marymount, Dr. Schachter mentored me, cared for me, and helped instill in me confidence as a student and a leader. She helped me with everything from reading my personal statements to just being someone I could stop by and talk to. I applied to eight four-year institutions in the fall of 2005 and was accepted by all of them including USC, Berkeley, and UCLA. I can honestly say I would not have been as successful throughout my undergraduate career without Dr. Schachter's strong support and guidance.

Dr. Schachter was not only very knowledgeable and helpful with my counseling needs, but she was also incredibly supportive and very quick to get back to me whenever I had any questions. She was extremely flexible and played a major role in de-stressing my college application process. With her help, I was accepted into my first-choice school.

In my two years' experience as an advisee of Dr. Schachter at Marymount College Palos Verdes, I could not have asked for a more dedicated counselor. She is compassionate about her students' progress and development and notably confident in her knowledge of all facets of academia. Although I graduated and transferred from Marymount in 2005, I continue to seek her guidance for my future academic endeavors.
